In Psalm 128:3, the bible made it clear that children are like olive plants. Here are some of the attributes of an olive plant.
- Longevity. Olive plants can live for thousands of years. In the Mediterranean regions of the world, some olive trees have been scientifically verified to be up to 2000 years old.
- Prolific. They start bearing fruit from the age of 5. In Croatia, there’s an olive tree that was carbon-dated to be about 1600-years old that still bears fruit to this day.
- Indestructible. The root system of an olive plant is indestructible and it is capable of regenerating itself even when the above-ground structure is destroyed by frost, fire, or disease.
- Unparchable. The olive tree is drought-friendly and can survive long periods without water, just ly=ike the eucalyptus.
- Generous. The olive tree generously produces an average of 400lbs of olives annually.
- Ancient. The edible olive has been cultivated for more than 6000 years. It was said that it fell from tres into salt water and was seen at the banks of the Mediterranean sea and eaten.
- Sacred. The olive is a symbol of peace, wisdom, glory, fertility, power, and purity. It was offered to deities and also used to crown victors of wars and games.
- Oil. It’s used for anointing and for separation purposes.
- Healthy. It’s a healthy fruit containing anti-oxidants, healthy fats, and fiber.
