Service is important and many people want to serve, but being committed to service is what they find difficult. When any service lacks commitment, that service becomes a waste. If you’re not serving God, you’re not licensed to spiritual security that he alone can provide.
2 Chron. 25:1-2 KJV. Amaziah was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem. 2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, but not with a perfect heart.
2 Chron. 25:27-28 KJV. Now after the time that Amaziah did turn away from following the Lord they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem; and he fled to Lachish: but they sent to Lachish after him, and slew him there. 28 And they brought him upon horses, and buried him with his fathers in the city of Judah.
Why do people serve?
- People serve to get paid.
- To be settled after serving.
- For recommendations.
- To become a master/king.
Mal 3:17-18 KJV. And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. 18 Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.
How do I serve God perfectly?
- You must serve him in truth and in spirit.
John 4:24 KJV. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. - You cannot serve him with another master (money).
Matt. 6:24 KJV. No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. - Make him alone your master.
Matt. 4:10 KJV. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. - You must do it with all your heart. When you don’t render your service to God with your whole heart, it becomes a strange service.
Deut. 10:12 KJV. And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,
