Bible Verse 28/6/2020 – Exodus 17:11 (KJV)
And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.
All that Moses did was to praise God with the lifting of his hands. When we praise God, we lift up our hands. There are four major ways to worship God.
- 1. Towdah – Stretching/lifting up our hands in adoration and thanksgiving.
- 2. Tehilla – Raising up your hands to sing songs and praise.
- 3. Yadah – Holding out your hands and throwing up the hands in the air in exaltation to Thanksgiving.
- 4. Baruch – outward confession of praise or worthiness” to God
As a Christian, when you live a life of Thanksgiving to God, there’s no battle you will not win.
What are the considerations for Thanksgiving?
1. Because if not for him…
Psalms 124:1-3 (KJV) 1 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, now may Israel say; 2 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us: 3 Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:
Blessed be the Lord who had not given us as prey… If not for the grace of God, some of us sitting down here would have been buried long ago.
2. Because He’s our God.
Psalms 95:6-7 (KJV). O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker. 7 For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.
3. So that I can call upon him.
Psalms 116:17 (KJV). I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the Lord.
So that we can call upon him in the time of trouble. You have no biblical right to call God to help you unless you’ve thanked him for what he has done for you.
Psalms 50:14-15 (KJV). Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High: 15 And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.
Today, you’re a graduate but you don’t have a job, have you thanked God that you’re a graduate? You’re married, have you thanked him that he gave you a wonderful husband/wife? Thank God always.
