The Sufferings Of Men

There are several reasons why people suffer. In this sermon, Rev. (Dr) Isaiah Orjiakor tells us the reasons why men suffer.

1. When people reward good for evil. You invite suffering into your life the moment you start to do evil things to people after they’ve done good things to you.
   Prov. 17:13 KJV. Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.
2. When you abuse people. You invite suffering into your life when you start abusing people, especially when these people have a good heart towards you.
   1 Peter 3:7 KJV. Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
3. When you sleep with another man’s wife.
   Prov. 6:27-29 KJV. Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? ²⁸ Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned? ²⁹ So he that goeth in to his neighbour’s wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.
4. Lying and bearing false witness.
   Prov. 19:5 KJV. A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.
5. Acting foolishly. When you act foolishly, you’ll attract suffering into your life.
   Eccl. 10:15 KJV. The labour of the foolish wearieth every one of them, because he knoweth not how to go to the city.
6. Lack of insensitivity to spiritual matters.
   Romans 8:6 KJV. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7. When you don’t give.
   Eccl. 11:1-2 KJV. Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days. ² Give a portion to seven, and also to eight; for thou knowest not what evil shall be upon the earth.
