Building A Godly Home

[2nd Service 21/6/2020]

The governor is in the business of running the govt but wife and husband are in the business of building a godly home. The teacher is in the business of building kids with knowledge. The pastor is in the business of building the faith and spiritual lives of a Christian.

How to build a Godly home.

1. Understand that a home is a place where God is interested in.

God cannot dwell in a godless home.
Acts 16:31 (KJV). And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

In Lk 19:5 – 9 Jesus went to the house of Zaccheus to show he’s interested in the home. Also bear in mind that Satan is also interested in the home as Jesus is but the devil only comes to kill, to steal, and to destroy.

2. Make your home a place of training.

Proverbs 22:6 (KJV). Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Deuteronomy 6:20-23 (KJV). And when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What mean the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which the Lord our God hath commanded you? 21 Then thou shalt say unto thy son, We were Pharaoh’s bondmen in Egypt; and the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand: 22 And the Lord shewed signs and wonders, great and sore, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his household, before our eyes: 23 And he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he sware unto our fathers.

Train your children, wife, and husband. If you fail to train in the family, you will still come back to the consequences. Train the kids to wash, sing, mend their clothes, do chores, etc.

3. Know that a home is a place of eating.

1 Corinthians 11:34 (KJV). And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.
Try as much as possible to feed your family. The children should be full before even considering eating meat.

1 Timothy 5:8 (KJV). But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

4. The home is a place for relatives and passersby.

Your husband and wife’s relatives will surely want to come and visit you from time to time. Learn to coordinate them and their visits.

5. Make the home a place of prayer.

Sometimes, parents discuss people in their homes. Don’t discuss or ridicule people in your home. Instead, make your home a place for prayer.

Acts 12:12 (KJV). And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.
