Bible Verse: Proverbs 11:24 (KJV)

Proverbs 11:24 (KJV)
24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.

God told Abraham in Gen. 12:1-2 that He’ll bless him and make him a blessing unto others. This shows that God appreciates being a blessing to people. What is God’s opinion about being a blessing?

2 Corinthians 9:6-9 (KJV). But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. 7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: 9 (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.

If you want to bless someone, don’t give it grudgingly. God considers what you give to someone and the manner with which you give it. It doesn’t matter how big or small it is, if the manner you give it doesn’t correspond to the word of God, you won’t receive God’s reward.

Sometimes God will tell you to give your last card and He’ll give you the grace to survive without that last card till your reward comes. He’ll make all grace abound unto you. Once you are a blessing to someone, you are removing certain loads from your life.

The devil’s plan doesn’t include being a blessing to others. Rather, it entails taking things from what has been given. Matt. 25:1-10 talks about the parable of the ten virgins.

How can you be comfortable when someone else around you is going to bed on an empty stomach and you still call yourself a Christian?

Acts 6:1-2 (KJV). And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration. 2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. [This led to the selection of deacons in the church].

Acts 5:1-10 (KJV). But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, 2 And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles’ feet.

Being a blessing doesn’t only mean giving money or gifts to people. Sharing words of encouragement with people in their trying times can bless the life of that person.
