Bible Verse: Zechariah 4: 8 – 10

Zechariah 4:8-10 (KJV)
Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
9 The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house;
his hands shall also finish it;
and thou shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto you.
10 For who hath despised the day of small things?
for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven;
they are the eyes of the Lord, which run to and fro through the whole earth.

Many people are afraid to begin afresh. They want to keep managing and they want to keep patching. Through the sermon, God is telling someone to start afresh. Don’t be too proud to start again. God is a God of a New beginning.

Genesis 1:1 (KJV)
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Genesis 1:26 (KJV)
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

John 2:11 (KJV)
This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

Somebody you need to stop, go back, and start better. When you start afresh, be more careful.

Rev. (Dr) Isaiah Orjiakor.

Isaiah 43:19 (KJV)
Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

If you desire to do exploits in life, then you must start small. Life is governed by principles and laws and when you play by them, you increase your chances of succeeding in your endeavors.

Job 8:7 (KJV)
Though thy beginning was small,
yet thy latter end should greatly increase.

God cannot give you 200000 until you can account for the 20000 that he gave you. the only course we study in heaven is accounting because every man will give an account. Luke 16:10

Why do people run away from starting afresh?

1. Pride.

1 Peter 5:5-6 (KJV) Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. 6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

James 4:6 (KJV)
But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

2. Camouflage/Pretence/Make believe.

Do not pretend to be who you are not.

Psalms 101:7 (KJV)
He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.

3. Planning with another man’s resources.

Relying on other people’s resources e.g. money your uncle promised you. Start with what you have. Don’t borrow to start a business.

4. Procrastination.

Ecclesiastes 11:4 (KJV)
He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.

1 Corinthians 14:40 (KJV)
Let all things be done decently and in order.

5. Comparing yourself with others.

Don’t see youself as always in competition with anyone. There’s no need to compare yourself with someone else. After all, your fingerprint is unique to only you.

6. Ignoring the little.

Don’t ignore the little in your hand. Find a better way to do it and package it. Have patience.

Deuteronomy 7:22 (KJV)
And the Lord thy God will put out those nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.

God bless you. Have time for God and time for prayer and you’ll succeed.
