One of the best things that can happen to any Christian is to have a lasting relationship with God. And it’s what every Christian should strive to achieve. There are a few things you should know about having a lasting relationship with God and they’re outlined below.

Having A Lasting Relationship With God

  1. Your relationship with God should be a symbiotic one and not parasitic. In essence, this means that the relationship will be give and take. For your relationship with God to last, you should be willing to give God even as He’s always going to give you what you ask for and need. Let’s point out that it’s not only money that we can give to God. We can give our time, heart, talents, and living a life of appreciation.
    Amos 3:3 KJV. Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
    1 Sam 2:30 KJV. Wherefore the Lord God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the Lord saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.
  2. You must understand that God counts.
    Deut. 6:16 KJV. Ye shall not tempt the Lord your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.
    Numbers 14:22 KJV. Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;

    Deu 16:16 KJV. Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the Lord thy God in the place which he shall choose; in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before the Lord empty:
  3. You must understand that God reciprocates.
    Heb. 6:10 KJV. For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
    Exo 20:6 KJV. And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
    Numbers 14:24 KJV. But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.
    Heb. 11:6 KJV. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
  4. God can reject/discontinue the relationship.
    Prov. 29:1 KJV. He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
    1 Sam 15:23 KJV. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
    Rev. 3:16 KJV. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
  5. Understand that God is present.
