Firm Foundation

What does it mean to have a firm foundation?

The firm foundation here refers to not being soft nor bowing to pressure from anything or anybody. It’s the experience of being strong and firm and standing even when people, experiences, and situations are pushing you around.
1 Cor. 3:13 KJV. Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.

The fact that you’re a born-again Christian doesn’t mean that challenges won’t come. They’ll come, but what matters is how firm your faith in God is. As a Christian, you should be ready to have your faith, decisions, and your works for God tested.
Psalm 11:3 KJV. If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?

How can I have a strong/firm foundation?

  1. By hearing and doing the word of God. If you decide to hear and not do the word of God, you’re decieving yourself and you won’t have a firm foundation.
James 1:22-25 KJV. But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
  2. Don’t be in a haste.
Isa. 28:16 KJV. Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
  3. Don’t live in sin (iniquity).
2 Tim. 2:19 KJV. Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
Rom 6:1 KJV. What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
  4. Don’t be carried away with the lifestlye of lawless people.
2 Pet. 3:17 KJV. Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
