Prophets are important. God will not do something without first showing it to the prophet. A prophet is a man called by God and when a man is called into the prophetic ministry, he hears from God. One of the benefits of being called is the clarity of the message.
Amos 7: 12 KJV. Thus hath the Lord God shewed unto me; and, behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king’s mowings.
Who is a prophet?
- A prophet receives direct information and receives vision from God.
- A prophet is a channel God uses to speak to the people. He is a man people recognize, and he hears and sees.
Hosea 12:13 KJV. And by a prophet the Lord brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved. - A prophet is sent to prepare the way.
Luke 1:76 KJV. And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways; - In the spiritual realm, the voice of the prophet is respected as it is seen as the voice of God.
- A prophet comes to write and to declare what will happen. 1 Peter 1:10 KJV. Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
Mark 1:1-2 KJV. The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;2 As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.
Isaiah 9:14-15 KJV. Therefore the Lord will cut off from Israel head and tail, branch and rush, in one day. 15 The ancient and honourable, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail. - Know what the word of God says, but never despise the office of a prophet.
1 Thess 5:20 KJV. Despise not prophesyings. - Your prosperity is attached to the ministry of a prophet.
2 Chron. 20:20 KJV. And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
2 Peter 1:21 KJV. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
Rev. 10:11 KJV. And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.
Rev. 19:10 KJV. And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
